About the position

The individual in this role oversees the entire department, managing all personnel, projects, and departmental strategy. This role ensures operational excellence and strategic growth within the department.

Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

• Lead and direct department, focusing mainly on improving department efficiency by developing team members, managing department budget, and organizing workflow with strategic direction, with minimal billable hours

• Oversees all aspects of surveying projects, SUE projects, and Engineering projects from proposal preparation to final product delivery.

• Manages the surveying department and sets strategic direction.

• Oversees hiring, training, and development of survey staff, both in office and in field.

• Ensures all projects align with company standards and goals.

• Develops department budgets and monitors financial performance.

• Develops and maintains client relationships
• Provide general office oversight, ensuring efficient daily operations, coordination of administrative functions, and alignment of local office activities with company policies and strategic objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field preferred but not required. Some positions might accept equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license is required.
• Over 10 years of experience in land surveying with extensive project management experience.
• Proven leadership skills with ability to lead a team of 10 - 30 employees in field and office operations
• Extensive experience in management roles within surveying or a similar industry.
• 10+ years experience in civil engineering or land survey.
• Exceptional leadership, management, and organizational skills.
• Mastery of surveying practices and legal standards and proven desire to stay up to date with industry trends.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to represent the department and company.
• Proficient with the latest AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
• Proficient in budgeting, finance, and human resources.

Pay:

• Minimum $140,000 salary depending upon experience
