About the position
The person in this role will lead multidisciplinary survey projects with a strong focus on hydrographic, aerial, and geospatial innovation. Oversees the execution of survey operations from planning to final deliverables, integrating advanced technologies such as multibeam sonar, UAV photogrammetry, and point cloud processing. Utilize FAA Part 107 Certification to conduct commercial drone operations, applying UAV technology for topographic mapping, site documentation, and geospatial data acquisition. By combining technical expertise with project management leadership, he ensures data accuracy, client satisfaction, and operational excellence. This role is pivotal to the company’s continued growth in hydrographic and geospatial services, aligning with strategic goals for bathymetric survey expansion, mobile scanning integration, and 3D data innovation.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Project & Technical Oversight
Manage hydrographic survey operations, including multibeam and single-beam sonar deployments, vessel navigation, and data validation.
Execute aerial photogrammetry missions for topographic mapping using UAVs; plan flight paths, establish ground control, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Oversee data processing workflows: bathymetric datasets, georeferenced imagery, digital terrain models (DTMs), and 3D visualizations.
Configure and calibrate survey-grade equipment: GNSS receivers, motion sensors, echo sounders, UAV payloads, and acquisition software.
Team Leadership & Client Management
Lead and mentor survey teams, including training staff on hydrographic workflows, point cloud processing, and advanced scanning tools.
Serve as primary point of contact for clients, ensuring technical needs, deliverables, and budgets are aligned with expectations.
Collaborate across departments with engineers, contractors, and design teams to integrate survey outputs into larger project scopes.
Maintain a safe work environment, enforcing safety protocols and procedures
Data Quality & Compliance
Ensure accuracy, QA/QC, and regulatory compliance of all hydrographic, aerial, and terrestrial survey datasets within all applicable municipality - local, state, and federal - regulations and standards.
Standardize data workflows and documentation to ensure repeatability, consistency, and scalability of deliverables.
Maintain a safe work environment, upholding safety standards for marine, aerial, and terrestrial operations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field preferred but not required. Some positions might accept equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
Senior-level position with 10+ years of surveying experience including 8+ years of CAD experience.
FAA Part 7 Certification.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Advanced training in hydrographic software, photogrammetry, CAD, and GIS platforms.
Expertise in hydrographic and geospatial systems (Hypack, QPS, CARIS, Global Mapper, Pix4D, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and team collaboration.
In-depth knowledge of UAV operations (FAA Part 107 Certified) and geospatial dataset integration.
Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Ability to identify and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
Skills in building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Experience in budget preparation and management, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints.
Knowledge of quality assurance practices to ensure all surveying work meets the highest standards.
Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations and standards related to surveying.

Pay:
Starting salary $87,090 depending upon experience
